Topic: Back Of Refrigerator Posted: 29 Sep 2010 at 12:30pm |
I have noticed after it rains when I remove the exterior access covers to the back of the refrigerator there is a puddle of water. The base is plywood and it looks like Forest River applied a preservative on the plywood to keep it from rotting. I thought for a little more protection after the wood dried, I applied a coat of exterior varnish to seal the wood better. Another thing I am going to do is place a board under the wheel on the oppisite side to tilt the trailer for better drainage. David

I don't know if this is problem with the 177, but I will check also as we have inundated with rain lately. Thanks for the insight.

Mine also leaks down on right side of fridg on my 177 had a bunch of rain here in Mn. when we were out last week end and it leaked a bunch in fact you can see day lite out thru the lower right hand corner. So it goes into dealer on the 14 of Oct. for fix and to check on LP ping. Was told by dealer that after you fill the LP tank the second time it does not ping anymore. True OR False?? The ping was so bad i kept looking out side to see if someone was backing up to hit me,it sounds like a back up alarm.

False - they need to replace your regulator, it was a bad batch on all the 'pods. Mine was replaced under warranty and that solved the problem.
Hmmm, they are calling for torrential rains tonight (5"), I might have to open mine up tomorrow when I get home and take a look.

I just checked the back of the fridge on our 177 and saw no evidence of water, after the heavy rains we had here. Now there are trailers parked on either side and that may preclude blowing rain coming in, don't know.

No, it is in storage and closed. The original post refers to a 171, which has no slideout. But now that I read your post again, I do remember seeing daylight at the lower right hand corner, last time the slide was out.

I took another look at the frames the covers fit into and noticed small indentations in the bottom part of the frames for drainage. They were filled with caulking from the factory. I removed the caulking, I'll wait untill next time it rains to see if puddles form again.

Checked mine this morning and there is no water sitting. I do have the drainage hole that are not blocked.
