Pump sucking air

Just an FYI in case anyone has a similar problem ...

We used our water pump for the first time this past week in one of the state parks. This was the first time we haven't had a water hookup on site.  We had an awful time with air in the lines, and I couldn't figure out where it was entering the system. It was so bad that I was afraid to turn on the water heater for fear of burning up the element.  

Today I finally figured out the entry point was a loose connection where the debris strainer attaches to the suction side of the pump. I probably loosened it last fall when I was yanking on the hoses during the winterizing process.

	This weekend was our first weekend out since the winter. Couldn't get the pump to work on the way there (pit stop). Lots of air, no water. No problem in camp since we had hookups but it irked me. I knew we would need it for future trips. Pulled off the cover to look at the pump and then I saw it - I never closed the valve for the antifreeze hose. Duh! Thought about this thread at that point...

	Well, at least you didn't end up doing major dis-assembly of your rPod tracking water lines looking for the air leak. I had our rPod in several pieces before I figured it out.

	I had the problem of NO WATER in the tank so it did suck air. Filled the tank before leaving for girl scout camp that we dry camp at. On the way something must have been in the road as the valve I installed on the tank was broken off so all the water drained out. I have now installed a flush plug in the tank. Got luck to the broken piece out with damage to the threads.
