Topic: Weight Distibuting Hitch Posted: 23 Apr 2010 at 1:28pm |
I upgraded the tires on my Sienna recently to light truck tires and the change in handling is noticable. If they don't put LT tires on the Liberty stock, that would be one easy change.

The tires, shocks and springs on a stock Liberty are for drive comfort. Why they did that for a SUV is beyond me. If you will ever be using the Liberty for hauling or towing it is best to get heavy duty components. Besides, the ride will be even better! Terry

We believe in using a WDH when pulling a trailer. It's extra safety for piece of mind.

I have a Jeep Liberty and at first hauled my Pod without a WDH. The Jeep's rear was very lightly loaded. I measured the rear sag cause by the hitch and it was minimal. The Pod does not have much storage room so we ended up filling the back of the Liberty with 'essentials'. I found that the rear of the Jeep was sagging more than I liked, so I put a WDH on the Pod with sway control. I never had a sway problem but decided to have 'belts and suspenders' while I was at it. I don't think I would ever go back to a regular hitch. The Liberty rides better, without pumping up and down when you run over an undulating road surface, as it did before the WDH.

I had a 2002 Jeep Liberty I towed with for a bit without weight hitch. I did have to get a longer receiver as the spare tire on the back got in the way.

Is there anyone towing there RPod with a 2008 or newer Jeep Liberty without a weight distributing hitch. Undecided if we will need one. David and Danette
