Calendar Event: Faucet fails to trigger pump Posted: 04 Dec 2016 at 10:19pm |
Still looks like Charlie is spot on, plugged screen at the faucet.

Thanks, Charlie, for the explanation! Tars, the water flow at the kitchen faucet comes up to normal when you flush the toilet, although not immediately: after the pump runs for less than a minute.

Are you saying the water flow at the kitchen faucet comes up to normal when you flush the toilet? That's a whole different puzzle. If you're saying the water flow is normal at the toilet that goes back to a clogged screen at kitchen sink.

Any ideas what causes the pump to turn on when the faucet is opened, and why that might not function? | Something seems strange and amiss here. The pump is controlled by a pressure switch right at the pump. It senses pressure in the cold water pipe at the pump output and turns on the pump when it drops. The same switch turns off the pump when it reaches a set higher pressure. Use of water anywhere will turn the pump on if the pump is supplied with 12 VDC. There are no location dependent pump signalling devices. If you turn on the kitchen faucet the pump should come on eventually. If the faucet is severely clogged it may take some time to drain the system below the lower trip point. However, causing the pump to cycle by flushing the toilet, thus building up pressure, will have only a minor effect on flow. My bet is on a clogged screen in the faucet.
