I wear ear plugs,a little uncomfortable but it's worth it to get a decent nights sleep.I also run the fan in the low mode.

We are in TN and haven't needed AC at night, we have a fan and sleep with poncho liners as a cover (lightweight nylon), also leave the bathroom fan on to ventilate. Even with temps in the 70s the pod is cool inside.

+2 we left ours on low all night and put the fan on auto during the day.
This post describes things I did to mine which quieted it down somewhat: http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1433&PID=49114&title=possible-replacement-for-the-a-c#49114 |

I do likewise. The first night or two, it was annoying. After that, it became just a background noise. One thing that also helped was to have our heads toward the bathroom/wardrobe end of the bed. The wall blocks a little bit of the sound. It also makes it easier to get in and out of bed as I can use the dinette cushion to help climb over my wife's feet instead of over her upper legs during the night for those necessary trips. |

At night, I typically set switch to Fan, set it to LO, and then switch back to A/C. That makes the fan run all the time, but at a slightly lower noise level. For me, it makes a nice white noise generator that doesn't interfere with sleeping. The constant on and off with the fan in AU mode would keep me awake.

Our air conditioning unit is unbearably noisy to the point that it overpowers the radio and/or tv. It also makes it hard to sleep. I don't recall our Coleman unit on our pop up that we had years ago being loud. Any suggestions?
