From much that I see on the Web, it says the Highlander has a 5,000 max towing capacity, that's why I looked at that vehicle today. It shows the Sienna at 3,500. Can others that have a Highlander respond. I'm likely buying a 2016 178.

Welcome.  The Highlander is a 3500-pound rated vehicle, same drivetrain as the Sienna, so you won't want to do any cross-country trips.

I tow with a Highlander. What do you need to know?

A weight distribution hitch will work, but just don't over-spec it. Most people run 600/6000 hitches. A round bar hitch *may* be a little easier on the vehicle unibody structure than a trunnion hitch because the flex of the round bars will absorb some of the stress.

Welcome to the forum!

I took the liberty of moving your post to it's own topic. I hope you don't mind.

I have no experience with the Highlander so I can't be of much help. Stay tuned...you'll get some replies.
