Thanks all, for your warm welcome. I did not know there was a Facebook group, so I am learning things already. One thing I am surprised to find is that many RV campgrounds in what I consider to be the south (as in south of the Mason/Dixon) are closed in the winter. Oh well I am more than happy to dry camp.

While you are on the road, Flying J, Pilot, and Truckstops of America will let you park overnight. The only place I was turned down on our recent trip was at a Petro station. Petro lost a customer. I don't know if it was corporate policy or if it was just that particular manager though.

Your Forum is great, lots of good tips.

Seems like we're the opposite...  I live in FL and vacation in western NC, bought some property up near Franklin a few years ago and want to put a cabin up there.

People at the beach want to see the mountains, people in the mountains want to see the beach.

Came from tenting to a tt (rpod) with nothing in between.   This group was/is great and since then the face book group has been added. Together the two forums are fantastic ... just like the fan...   Welcome to the group from Ontario.

Welcome. I'm one of them. It gets the family out there, when they otherwise wouldn't go.

Start reading as you can literally spend days reading all the great posts, mods, places to camp, current and future events, and on and on it goes . . . . . .  Welcome to the group. Hope your 'shakedown' journey goes well.
