Definitely odd, I measured mine at 1000 watts on low.  Maybe mine was 11k btu and yours is 13.5?

My AC would blow the circuit breaker in the garage until I swapped to a larger wired ,shorter extension cord to the outlet. No problem now. 15 amp circuit breaker.

I checked the idle draw right after shutting down. .5 amps. Will try again later tonight. To darn hot out there right now.

Are you sure the converter wasn't running, etc? Once running, I have never seen one pulling more than 11A..

And honestly.. I would just put in a 30A circuit. Same space in the box.. (that's generally the issue)

Just wanted to post my experience today with trying to run the A/C unit on a home 15amp circuit (nothing else running on it during the test). Using good heavy gauge 30amp feed line, I plugged in and it started and ran good. I was watching it closely and after 10 minutes noticed the plug in the garage was starting to heat so I shut it down to take a measurement.

It was pulling 15.3 amps...over 1700 watts so my conclusion is, at least for me...

A dedicated 20amp circuit is required to run my POD A/C properly.

Some may already know this, but I have seen some chatter here and there about a 15amp circuit being able to handle it. I don't think so, at least not for me. Smile

I have everything needed to run an additional dedicated 20amp circuit, guess I better get it done.
