In the colder snowy/icy times of the year mine is closed and I just cycle my damp rid more often. I have the FF upgrade with the rain sensor that opens/closes it the rest of the year, but with ice chances I don't want it getting frozen in the open position or anything.

For you Florida podders, I grew up, lived and worked al my life in S. Fl.
I used to sell a lot of Dampp-Chasers they worked good for Fl. high humidity. Needs 120v. http://www.dampp-chaser.com/

We have always left our vent cracked open. Learned to do that in the winterizing class we took.

It would be closer to a 75 watt incandescent since they waste 90 percent of their energy as heat. I agree it would do the same thing. Probably wouldn't do much good since cold air is very dry already.

So what do you all think of the Davis Instruments Air Dryer
Air-Dryr 500. Handles up to 500 cubic feet of living space Draws only 0.6 amps, 70 watts Designed to be left on 24 hours a day $35.31 Seems a little too good to be true but does get really good reviews. Would a 60 watt light bulb do the same? fred |

That's because Outbound is neighbors with Santa Clause. If he leaves a vent open his pod will fill up with snow and reindeer!

This is our first winter with the pod, so we bought a cover from Amazon and put a damp rid bucket that's suppose to be good for 6 months on the floor, winterized all done.
No windows or vent cracked open. Should be fine,we'll find out come spring

In the winter, I close my vent and windows completely, and cover the fridge vents, furnace vents and water heater vent with plastic. In the trailer, I leave some desiccant to absorb water.
