I'd bet the A/C is louder!

Yeah, I thought it might measure louder too. Sure feels like it. It does measure higher at "head height" right under it. And certainly feels a lot louder "up there".

Love that Yamaha. It does get a little louder when wife turns on her hair dryer. :)

Half way between normal office noise and conversational speech... and louder than your generator (I have the same one)? The air con seems really loud to me.  Using your examples I would have guessed closer to 70, but maybe just because it's annoying.

Other people think my generator is quiet, and I guess it is, but I'm pretty self-conscious about it, as a long time tent camper.

Y'all may (or may not) find this interesting.

It was 90+ today with the pod in full sun. Good day to test the AC!

At around 4:00 PM and outside temp showing 93 I set the thermostat to 74. Only took about 10-15 minutes to totally cool down to the point when compressor kicked off. Nice and cool! That's the good news!

It's noisy, though. I took some measurements sitting on the edge of the bed.

With AC (compressor) running:

With AC off - pod closed and nothing running:

As a comparison, my Yamaha 2400ishc measures 51dB at about 10 ft. Here are some more common dB levels:

110..........Deafening => Punch press, close to a train, ball mill
100..........Very Loud => Passing truck, home lawn mower, car horn @ 5 meters, wood saw, boiler factory
90...........Very Loud => Decibels at or above 90 regularly cause ear damage. Noisy factory, truck without muffler
80...........Loud => Noisy office, electric shaver, alarm clock, police whistle
70...........Loud => Average radio, normal street noise
60...........Moderate => Conversational speech
50...........Moderate => Normal office noise, quiet stream
45...........Moderate => To awaken a sleeping person
40...........Faint => Average residence, normal private office
30...........Faint => Recording studio, quiet conversation
20...........Very Faint => Whisper, empty theater, ticking of watch
10...........Very Faint => Threshold of good hearing
0............Threshold of excellent youthful hearing
