Topic: Decals On 2010 Posted: 03 Jun 2013 at 12:05am |
Congratulations, Randy & Cheryl!
We must be following each other around a little bit. I also had a Smart Passion, we have two Kia's (an Optima and a Soul that replaced the Passion), and we bought a new 2012 rPod RP-173 last Fall.
I was torn between the 171 and 173 models; but decided to go with the more open look of the 173 with the sofa and u-shaped dinette. As a practical matter, though, I expect to have the sofa opened into an almost full-time bed. I cut a 7"x7"x74" foam piece to fill the gap between the top of the sofa back and the wall when the sofa is opened; and, today, I bought a full size 3" memory foam mattress topper that fits over that whole area perfectly. The result is sort of a RP-171 with a slightly smaller bed and slightly larger dinette. My wife and I aren't big people, so the full (double) size bed should be comfortable for us; and we do still have the option of converting things back to a sofa.
Happy Podding.

If these new ones curl they will come off and not be replaced.

According to Forest River, at least my year, my Pod has Lamilux 1000 fiberglass on it. I had asked if a clear coat over the graphics would stop them from self destructing. They didn't know if you can put a clear coat on that type of fiberglas.

Yep our 2011 RP-172 front circular graphics are starting to curl up at the edges. I went out today hell bent on getting at least the roof waxed with a good magueries carnubra wax. when I got up on the ladder the whole roof was covered is little black spots I assume was mildew. It took a good hour with scrub brush and cleaners to get it off. I then started to get a good cover of paste wax on the roof and front, and then the thunderstorms hit. I got the roof done from the ac forward to the front edge. I had washed the pod really good after taking the winter cover off of it, but not sure where the mildew/mold came from.

I'm not looking forward to it but mine will be coming off also. This winter really took the toll on them and now that it started to heat up they seem to be cracking even faster.

I just spent a Saturday peeling of the second set of decals on my r-pod. After spending hours and hours cleaning up that sticky mess, I never want to see another decal again in my life.

Dang, lucky you Terry! Mine were replaced once but the 2nd time around FR wouldn't cover them even though I was still under warranty. Plus I had to pay to get the peeling ones off. I probably should have fought FR on that but at the time I just wanted the peeling stuff off.

My year has the rings and I have no idea who makes them. I think I'll let an RV dealer put them on. If they screw them up it is on them and not me.
