Here is a window.. very popular here..
Porthole I would be doubtful that the entertainment center would be self supporting if you cut the bottom out.. (if I understand your question correctly. |

Was trying to find some of Marwaynes posts. I know he did several portholes but even by member search I didn't stumble upon them.

Welcome. You should check out the Podmods section I think you'll like it. I recently bought a Yamaha EF2400is, so far it works well, I was able to test it with the A/C with an outside temp just over 80 without a problem (the hotter it is, the harder it is on the genset for multiple reasons). We used it boondocking about a month ago for the microwave and to top off a weak battery. It is a little louder than a similar Honda model but close. Thanks, kymooses, I was about to search. |

I've seen quite a few portholes or extra cabin windows added in places that are too dark in some Pods.
I'll see if I can't dig up some links, I know they are here somewhere.

I purchased my R-Pod 176 last year at this time, my first experience as an RV owner and unfortunately perhaps the wrong choice. Not with regard to the R-Pod itself but certainly the floorplan. I expected to be pleased with the bunks but find they are difficult to enter and exit. I also find that the lack of windows in the bunk area creates a cavelike experience.
I have a solution in mind but I am uncertain as to the structual ramifications. If I could remove the portion of the entertainment shelving covering the lower bunk I could expand that sleeping area by about 11 inches and make access to the bed much easier. While at it I would try to find two windows that I could add to opposite walls to provide increased natural lighting. The questions are- -would the top bunk and remaining entertainment system (radio moved to space between speakers) be structual sound enough as presently attached? -can I reroute whatever internal wiring will be in the way without compromising the system? -anyone know of any windows(perhaps portholes) that would be easy to install given the structure of these trailers? I seem to be continuously making improvements (probably unending, fortunatelly fun) to my trailer and its contents. I recently had a diamond plate, lockable battery box made for the new 6V batteries. Nicely done, a bit pricey but it will provide piece of mind when away hiking while boondocking. My next purchase priority is for a generator. Research points toward a Yamaha 2400. I can lift it into my pickup bed for transportation, enough power to start the air conditioner, reliable enough to count on during the winter for backup power at home. Thoughts ?? I would enjoy meeting folks(especially R-Pod owners) who live in my part of the world (Bellingham, WA) and would be willing to meet and compare ideas. Thanks konabob
