With only a 1000 watt load it should be fine on one genset, running. The capacitor just might allow it to start on one as well - but the eco setting may have to be turned off so it has enough momentum to get through the surge.

I got my big ladder out and changed the fan cover to the clear one. Easy. Then I extended myself from the ladder and took out the four screws that hold to cover for the A/C. Found the box with the cap but did not want to stand on the unreinforced roof. Found a dealer who will install in for a reasonable price next week. Will then try and run it with only one Honda 2 KW. We'll see. Safe Travels.

Here's a place to start http://www.tempulog.com/. Let us know what you find. It was mentioned on this forum that a 2KW system will run the A/C but it won't start it due to the surge. It would be worth a test to see if the A/C will stay on even if one of the generators stops. It might, which would give you a little more margin. That's not a replacement for the monitor, but rather a little extra insurance against using it should it work.

Thanks for all the great info & suggestions.... The 3 pugs read all the notes and talked me into the Honda EU2000i with the companion plus parallel wiring kit. Picking them up in Milwaukee this weekend. Now I am going to find a temperature alarm that will dial my phone when temp is out of range. Well, David, I gotta admit that you've got me there. As the PTA showers (think body parts) in our Pods are kinda weak, so you probably smell much better than I after camping.

Well, I like the Pods enough to have shelled out 5 figures for an RP173, back in July of 2009. Also, I can get quite a number of folks who would line up to testify that "yes, he truely is weird".
But alas, the lure of a dry bath and awning seduced me into a "regular" TT. Interestingly, my camper is within 2-3 inches lenght-wise of the Pods. Width - the actual body is a few inches wider, at 7' (84") but, the "track" - width between the wheels is more narrow.

Ford? Chevy? Honda? Champion? Hey, I don't agree with any of ya. I tow with a Toyota Tundra, have a Yamaha generator, and I'm super satisfied with both. But let's face it. We're all just a little different or we wouldn't be towing our Pods. Except for maybe folks like David who've kinda come to their senses and jumped ship. No offense, David, as you have a great looking towing combo, but kinda mainsteam for some of us weird Podophiles, heh, heh!
