go to tractor supply, they have very sturdy gates for sale. My driveway has 2 12' gates on 6x6 posts, been there for 3 years and no sag.

I dont think it matters much if you use wood or chainlink,(chainlink no upkeep) but I think you should put a spring loaded wheel on the bottom of each gate to keep it from dragging.

Tractor Supply used to be in Texas. They would have stock gates.

You Might check on stock gates that are premade. If you are near a farming community, we have Orchelins, Rural King and several AG minded stores, they are welded primed metal gates, you could probaly set 6 by 6 in concrete and bolt gates to poles, they are generally steel tubing, but I am sure you could fabricate slats or some light weight material for privacy. good luck.

You might still be ok with wood as long as you add two turnbuckles (with threaded rod) in an X pattern on the back to give each door rigidity. That's how large barn doors are done.

Gates will be over dirt right now. May put gravel on top later. It was grass but I just had a guy level the area so it could grow back to grass later.

I have a 24' opening in the yard. I want to build 2 - 12' gates that swing open so I can store my TT and boat back there.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should build this? I hear it needs to be either steel or Chain Link (with vinyl slats for privacy). Wood will sag or break. Any suggestions would be great since I have no idea how to proceed with this project.
