The Elkmont tows really well. I did get a WDH and sway control for it, that I did not have with the R-Pod. Ironically, I get *better* gas mileage towing the Elkmont than I did the R-Pod. I get about 12.5 to 13 mpg now versus 11 - 12 with the R-Pod.
My TV is a 2009 Buick Enclave, rated to tow 4500 pounds. It is a sister to the Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia, but more nicely appointed. It handles either trailer just fine.
The Elkmont that I got was loaded with everything except the auto levelers, solar panel, and outdoor grill / connector. List was just over $30,000 - we got it for $24,000 and they threw in the WDH and sway bars. They also gave us $12,000 for the R-Pod.
The most painful part of the deal was having to pay the CA state sales tax at 9% on two vehicles in consecutive years. I'm sure that I'll get a personal thank you note from Arnold Schwarzenegger!

I did not know that they had units that did not fold down. I like the design and the fact that they have an 80 Watt Solar Panel w/Digital Control as an option.

Ha! One of my biggest complaints about the 'pod contertop, solved on the Elkmont:
"There is no particle board or chipboard anywhere in the trailer. Even the floors and countertops are foam-filled."

Wow, love the weight of that thing. What are you using to pull it, and how does it pull compared to the 'pod? If you don't mind me asking, what was the price?

We got a Trailmanor Elkmont trailer. We love it. It was only about 500 pounds heavier than the R-Pod and has everything, even an oven and an awning! They are pricey compared to the R-Pod but we are very happy with the rig. Because I can now sleep at night, we enjoy camping more and go more often.

We really liked the concept of the R-Pod, but we could not find a way to arrange my 6'1" frame in the bed of the 175. But we did get to meet some nice folks on the forum, and the R-Pod got us back camping again.

Which is exactly why this forum exists, because we don't censor links, discussions of competitor's models, or talk about other dealerships. Couch's only wants you to talk about Couch's on the other site. http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=833&title=why-an-rpod-owners-forum
Its a shame because I'm a member of other forums owned by dealers (other things like generators, not other RVs) and they love it when other dealers join in with solutions, comments, etc. Makes for a strong community.
Good luck with your new trailer, and you are always welcome to swing by to chat.

In June, I traded my R-Pod 175 in for a Trailmanor Elkmont. The R-Pod was in great shape, but I was too tall to sleep in it. We got the Elkmont because of the bed arrangement and the additional room.
Since I traded it, it has been listed for sale on the dealer's website.
This is not a consignment sale - I have no stake in the selling of the rig. But I have been quite happy with the service I've gotten from the dealer (Custom RV in Anaheim, CA) and am just trying to help him out.
We camped in the R-Pod about 5 or 6 times, not once like the ad says (I think he misunderstood us).
If you're looking for a gently used R-Pod in the Southwestern US, you may want to give Matt at Custom RV a call. http://www.customrvsales.com/customrvinc_029.htm
I posted this on the other forum, but they removed the link (paranoia, I guess...). Hopefully, this is helpful to someone.
