+1 comment to Jato post on moving the temp sensor switch. I also did move the temp switch. Before doing so I used a Fluke infrared temp sensor (they are good to have, not just for RV issues) to monitor temps along the cooling fin tube. The mounting provision on mine was 5 fins from the end of cooling line. I moved it to the right at the output of the cooling fins. With fridge running on shore power, an outside temp 90 degrees. The cooling line was at 136 degrees at provided mounting point. At the new mounted point, temp was 176 degrees. As soon as I moved it and connected the wiring the fan came on, it was not running before. For the short time I monitored fridge today, that seems to make a cooling improvement. Interestingly I only have one cooling fan, some have reported two. On mine it was NOT low it was left on the tube and I moved it right at end of cooling fins. I had already performed checks to ensure fan and switch were operational. Simple mod.

The Free Piston Sterling Cooler we got from our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore has worked very well for storing perishables. The refrigerator can then be used for things that need to be cool, but do not necessarily need to be kept below 40F. That being said, I don't know if the change in propane regulators was the thing that did it. I cleaned the flue and the burner orifice also. On our recent trip, the refrigerator performed okay. I'm not sure why it started working better this trip after being inadequate on previous trips. Perhaps something was blocking the lines and it got knocked loose or some other reason, but I was seeing good temperatures overall with occasional higher temps if the door had been opened for longer than a few seconds. I still kept meats in the cooler though as it stays within one or two tenths of 4C (about 39F). This is a cooler used by the pharmaceutical industry to transport items. They were donated to ReStore and I was able to get it with an insulated bag and the 12 and 120V power cords (and transformer) for $100. It has been a great buy as new ones sell for many times more, especially if they are the type that can get down to freezing temperatures also.

Looks like about 60 deg. temperature drop on a 100 deg day is about typical for these small refers. Even on shore power they do no better. I have seen small battery operated fans for the inside of the refer that move the air over the coils. there is a small, looks like a computer case fan install below the coils when new. I do not know when this fans come on? During the summer no meats are put in the refer, we take along an ice chest for the and the wife has ice for her drinks.

Carol, congrats on selling your pod. I have noticed over the years that a lot of muffin fans are not working properly due to the incorrect placement of the bi-metal switch on the back of the fridge. I have seen quite a number located too low to do any good; hence they rarely come on, that was our case as well. By moving the switch to near the top of the coils, near the exhaust stack, the fans come on much sooner and stay on longer resulting in a colder fridge temps. inside.

I use reusable freezer bags and place them in fridge day before camp starts, helps the fridge cool down.

I have seen several things posted on youtube about propane fridges. The one that made the most sense had a couple of good points IMO. A Anything which can be frozen ahead of time should be frozen. B find a plastic bowl, tray which will hold a bag of ice. When you start the fridge, open the ice and put it on the lowest shelf. C buy one of those small fans that runs on batterys. I think ours is a camco, Blue. Essentially a computer fan and a battery case with a switch. Circulates air. D Empty fridge or freezer always takes the longest to come to temp. Heck buy a case of cold beer and fill that puppy up! I bet within 6 hours she is stable and at proper temp. E Close the door and leave it closed. Give it at least 6 hours to do its thing. Its not a house fridge, it does not have endless power available. Put it to work and leave it be to work in peace.

Sorry to take so long to reply. An empty refrigerator will heat up easier since there is only air in there which does not transfer heat very well. If you have enough contents in there to buffer the temperature swings and it is getting up to 50 on shore power, then it might be a problem.
