Topic: What else do you do on your r-pod travels? Posted: 10 Feb 2010 at 12:24pm |
We love Good Eats, too. We'll watch it as a family while we eat dinner.

We do many of the things on your list: we're both avid readers, we love to snowshoe and XC ski. We're also into geocaching; just picked up 5 the other day while down here in FL on vacation. Although I haven't been active in a while, my Amateur call is AA8TC, and I also am an amateur photographer and a woodworker.
We've been heavy duty boaters for many years, but we're sort of giving that up to get back into camping. The sailboat, 2 dinghys, and motor are going, but we plan to keep two inflatable kayaks. My wife is also addicted to the Food Network, and is an excellent and creative cook. We both love to watch Alton Brown and his show Good Eats, going so far as to TiVo his show so we don't miss any episodes.
At one time we were gardeners, but just don't stick around enough to properly take care of one.

I like having more control over my meals and not depending on restaurants. Being able to come and go at will. Having my very own cozy nest to enjoy with my personal things already in place. Having a "home" away from home. Being able to stop anywhere for a break and knowing if the weather is bad we can sit inside for that break. Not looking for a bathroom constantly. And we get to do what we want when camped, all of the above mentioned stuff like reading, resting, walking, hiking, sight seeing, just being together without constant demands.

Metal detecting, going off road in the Jeep and doing nothing constructive! Terry PS: the rest would be too personal!

We enjoy taking walks, hiking, biking, reading, looking at the fire & stars, sight seeing, shopping and the latest...retirement . We are looking forward to visiting all the National Parks and everything in between.

We like to take long walks/short hikes, read, play dominoes, take the dog out (when he can come with us). Sometimes I knit, look for wi fi to use the computer which is how we stay in touch. See new sights but mostly enjoy any nature we happen to be lucky enough to camp near. There must be more things we do -------- oh yes, we just sit around and talk.

I usually take my Ham radios along. I sometimes read, take Dixie for hike, take pictures, talk to other campers, ruin good food on the campfire, and mostly just relax and unwind. There are a couple of areas in my life that I use to escape the competition and conflicts of daily life...camping is one of those areas. I do whatever feels good at the moment!
