Picked up our new 179 last Saturday with a Blue Ox equalizer hitch. The main part of the hitch seemed to be sticking down too far but the guy that did our walk around said there was nothing that could be done and it was to do with the type of vehicle we were using, (2002 Grande Cherokee Laredo) . On getting it home we found that the hitch scrapped on the drive as we came off the road. 
I looked up Blue ox hitches on You Tube and found that Rangeland Rv Calgary had installed it upside down, I took it back and they simply undid the bolts and turned it 180 degrees, we now have lots of clearance.
I have learnt not to trust the dealerships and do my own thinking.
They also failed to mention the extra one year warranty that is available from Forest River. Thankfully I read about that on the forum, thanks guys. We find this forum invaluable.

Congrats on your 179. We really like ours, great floor plan and lots of room and storage.

Similar to my experience. The "expert" dealer installed my WDH clamps upside down and totally wrong. And the hitch was totally mis-adjusted. Being a novice I new something was wrong, but not what. The bars actually fell off at one point. I drove very carefully and slowly home, read the book, and fixed the problem. To Noobies with WDH I stress read the book, understand the book, understand the adjustments, and adjust the hitch properly yourself. Proper WDH adjustment can literally be a matter of life and death.

Your WDH setup may have been correct before - the holes on the shank determine the tongue height, which should be level or slightly nose-down.  In some cases the shank must be pointed up, in some it must be down to get that adjustment right.  When we had a Sienna the shank had to be down and it scraped on some inclines.  Not a big deal, it just meant some weight was supported on the shank and it was way too hard to wear down.  It can even be cut down somewhat.  If yours is level or slightly nose-down you are ok.  Then there are other adjustments that need to be checked to be sure it is setup right.
