Anytime such suffering is experienced it really tears at the heart !!! Im very moved by the endless information coming in from that disaster. Aid has been poured into that area, but delivery and distribution is a logistical nightmare. Its really awesome that in this day and age so many people still care about people.
What is equally disturbing are the some of the statistics of that area. (Haiti)
Port-Au-Prince is a city with the infrastructure for some 50,000 people. (estimate)
There are perhaps 2million ppl livng in that immediate area.
The average income is usually under $500 a year.
The average education level is very low.
Either an X-president, or the current one wrote a book in 2004 explaining that
Port-Au-Prince was an accident waiting to happen.
I believe the city is located over several possible fault lines.
If only we had the insight to prevent such situations, so much despair, so much pain and suffering, helplessness. With the help of those that care, they will recover, but it will be a very costly one in life lost. Besides the earthquakes, they still have so much to get through before those that have survived will consider themselves "ok".
