You will need wheel chocks and I had a 2 x 8 x 6ft board cut into 6 one foot pieces to stack under the tongue jack and for possible leveling. You will need a little level to put in the fridge to make it work well. Ask the dealer to show you where the manual override is for the slide in the unlikely case you need to use it. My gray water and black water tanks were labeled backwards when I picked my 178 up this spring. You might consider a voltage regulator that goes between your cord and the campground electricity socket. Campground voltage is apparently not always stable. Be careful that the bedding doesn't get caught in the slide. I almost caused a problem by not making sure it was out of the way. This may be old stuff to you, but it's just some things I did and ran into this spring. We love our RP178.

Congrats!!! Welcome to the group!!! My advise would be to make sure you get a very thorough walk thru and test everything be fore you leave the lot. Try the water systems, fridge on gas battery and electric, try the tv, radio, stove heater, a/c. microwave and anything else you can think of.

When going through the initial walk-through take video with your phone or a little action cam or anything. Make sure the batteries are charged and your memory card is in or you have enough memory to record about 2 hours worth.
I forgot to check on the memory card on the action cam and my phone was low on memory so I never got video of our walk through. Now, we're just calling the dealer, reading posts and watching videos because of my mistake hehe.

Check your sink drain connection. Due to the slide a flexible drain line is used. Turns out mine was barely attached from the factory and would leak every time water went down the drain.
My other recommendation is that you buy a mattress topper which will make the bed really comfortable. A couple of small rugs for the floor. A man-made chamois cloth to wipe down the shower after use is advisable.
I also purchased a weight-distributing hitch but don't use it now. I do have a sway control and always use it.

One more thing--the water heater has a switch under the outside cover which you will have to cut on to heat water. Once you have hooked up to water you will have to open the outside cover to cut your water heater on. Had I known this I would have saved a lot of confusion my first time out.

Easier to leave that outside switch on, and then use the circuit breaker on the converter to turn it on/off.

My son and I are picking our 178 up on Wednesday. Been surfing the web and checking out this site. We've been tent campers for a long time, but this will be our first time using a trailer. Kind of interesting that Forest River only has a simple and generic owners manual for something which has so many features and accessories. We're travelling from Connecticut to Pennsylvania so two nights in a camp ground near the dealer should assure us to be able address questions or issues easily.
