Just got a used 2010 RP-171 this past weekend.  This evening I plugged it into AC power from the house using a 30 to 15 amp adapter.  I pressed the mode buttons on the refrigerator controls to AC (plug symbol) and set the temperature setting to coldest (4 dots).

Silly n00b question of the day - Should I hear a compressor kick on like a normal refrigerator?  It's not making any noise at all. Star

I pulled the two side vent panels on the outside of the trailer behind the refrigerator and the radiator fins on top felt warm, but not warm enough to kick on the two small cooling fans.  Cleaned out some old wasp nests that were in there.

After an hour, the freezer definitely feels colder.  So I guess it's working?  Not sure.... Shocked

JohnBG that is normal, if it is quiet you may here a click if on 120 vac or a snapping and flame lighting noise if on LP gas. absorbation fridges don't make normal noises as they don't have a compressor per se.

And the fans won't come on until it is hot outside.

Follow up - after almost 24 hours running, the fridge is cold and the freezer made ice.  Thanks for your help.
