We've had our pod almost 3 days now, and love it... I'm wondering if I should water proof the dome? We live in Washington so 90% of the time it's raining. Should I wait to see if it leaks? I plan on using my dome as much as possible.. We have 2 dogs and I feel they may get cramped being inside all the time. Oh and if you recommend water proofing, what type... Camping is a whole new world to me... Lol

We are in our third season of 'Podding, and we use the R-Dome every time. Our two pups love it!

After this much time and use, we have not deemed it necessary to waterproof the 'Dome. What small

amount of wind-blown rain we get is something we are willing to abide.

I am no expert. But I thought from what I read somewhere here on the forum that the domes have waterproofing put on them from the factory. We are waiting on our pod delivery this week. An r -dome is supposed to come with it, if they have caught up on the backlog of the domes.

They are waterproofed from the factory when they are made, that initial water proofing holds up pretty darn well too.

It was at the end of my third year before I even thought of perhaps adding a bit more new to mine. A friend has had hers for darn near 5 years and just this year added some to hers again.

They hold up well!

Glad to hear they are indeed waterproofed from the factory and that it holds up so long. We just got news today that our trailer has been prepped and that we won't have to wait for an r-dome it is coming with the trailer. We should have our pod tomorrow if all goes well.

I've only had my Pod for one season but have been through several rain storms with the R-Dome. It seems to be waterproofed already. It keeps everything underneath it dry.

How long does it take to set up the dome?

The dome took me about 15 min. To set up. Being 5'5" and armed with a step stool, and minimal help the most difficulty I had was moving the fabric along. I had watched 2 videos on people setting them up so that helped. The instructions really didn't help.

Do any of you use silicone spray in the track when you set yours up? I saw it in done in a video but wondered about the residue build up on the fabric of the r-dome. Is it really needed? Or do you just make sure to keep the track clean?

I didn't have to use any sprays, i checked to make sure there wasn't any screws sticking out, then just slid through the track.
