Purchased a new 2018 Rpod 190. Spent about 3 weeks in it. Really liked it, but we had a leak when it rained. We lowered the slide-out side and stopped it. Took it to the dealer, but they couldn’t duplicate the leak. I’ll have to find it myself. I don’t think the leak is from the slide-out because I duct taped around around it and still leaked.

Congratulations and welcome! Sorry to see you had problems. I you have many great adventures and make many great memories doing so, even if there is the occasional glitch.

Did you check the sink drain line? When we bought our 179, the sink fittings were not tight enough and it leaked.  If you lowered the slide-out side and the leak stopped, it might be that the water is now running toward the outer wall so it may still be leaking but you are not seeing it. If it is not any of the sink fittings or water draining from the refrigerator (another possibility), then by all means check the slide-out.

Take a good look at the seals around the slide-out. You should never have to duct tape it as there are multiple seals to prevent water intrusion. It could be that one of them is not in place, leaving a gap for water to enter. You did not say where you saw the water. Was it high up or low down? Try to trace back to possible points of entry from where you saw the water. The slide-out could be a red herring and it may have come from a completely unrelated place. While you are at it, check the fittings in the shower and for the sink also just to make sure the water did not come from one of those places.

Congratulations on your 190.

We picked ours up in January and are still waiting for our first outing.  Just our luck we've had the worst weather in April in a decade.  At least its given me time to do some mods.

It only leaked when it rained, so I ruled out the plumbing.  I think you're right about the slide-out is a red herring, but I couldn't locate the source. Although it was running in on the left of the slideout, as you face it from the inside, I think it was coming from somewhere else.  The leak stopped when we lowered the left side of the camper a couple of inches.

Depending on the wind angle it can sometimes come in behind the fridge

In the vents. Had that happen in Cape Hatteras once rain was coming across almost side ways.

Thanks for the advice.  I'll check around the refrigerator, actually that makes some sense.  It could have leaked around the fridge, ran across on a board or something and down the corner of the slide.  The storage area had water in it too.

The other modification we made was to change the mattress.  The mattress that came with the 190 was horrible.  We survived about 6 nights and then bought a short queen in Gulf Shores. That was a good investment.

Congratulations Steve on your 190.  You have a better back than I, ours was replaced after our 3rd night as the mattress already collapsed, purchased a eurotop mattress.  Here we are nearly 7 years later and the mattress is still as comfortable as when we purchased it.  One other possible leak source that hasn't been mentioned yet is to get on a ladder and check the top gasket on your slide to make sure it seals and was correctly installed so that you do not see any gap under the gasket.  Probably coming from elsewhere but also good to rule out the obvious.

Our 179 leaked one time when it was parked with the slide-out retracted. Wind was 50-60 MPH, and the slide-out was pointed toward the wind. When we extended the slide-out, we found a small puddle under the refrigerator (less than 1/8 cup, but I didn't measure it). We have since had big wind & rain in the same circumstance, but with the slide-out extended & did not have any leaks at all.

My point being that I think rain can come in through the refrigerator vents with sufficient wind in an inconvenient direction. Our experience has been when the slide-out is retracted, but I haven't examined how it happens.
