So I went to pick up my new 178 yesterday. Did all the paperwork, then went to service department for the walk-thru. The young man was doing a great job. As we were going over some interior features, the refrigerator began to beep. He went over, looked at it thoroughly, pushed a few of the power source buttons and it stopped.....only to start back about 2 minutes later. To make a VERY long story short, this went on for the next hour. A couple of the service fellows, (who obviously know what they are doing) did a number of things, including checking every possible cause they could physically check, all to no avail. Said this was a first on any of their r-pods. Called Dometic, explained all they had done, fridge still beeping. Apparently the board was somehow fried and sending alert tones (every two minutes) for no really good reason. Ordering a new board for the refrigerator, so I came home empty-handed. Still, better to have it happen at the dealership than at 2 am on the first trip out. Will return next week to hopefully bring camper home. Hopefully just a fluke....for an alert tone though, as far as alert tones go, it was almost a pleasant little tap on the shoulder sound as opposed to a shoulder shaking, teeth rattling, shrieking alarm.

Sounds like you got a good and thorough walk-thru. It's sooo important and I'm surprised how often they seem to be bypassed. Better to catch this stuff on the lot!

We had our 178 walk-thru last year (before we signed the papers) and was very pleased. I felt good about it when the fellow unscrewed the panels above the WH and below the cabinets to show bypass valves, winterizing hose, manual slideout control, etc. Tested everything at our pace. Walk-thrus can save a *whole lotta* headaches and hassles later.

Oh, and congrats!

Thanks, Fred. I was impressed with the walk-thru. Bless him though, when the refrigerator started beeping, he became consumed with finding the source of the problem. My guess is we will officially "finish" the walk-thru when I return next week.

Safe travels.

That's interesting. We had a very detailed walk-through as well and our fridge did fancy things as well. It wouldn't want to be turned off. The walk-through guy turned it off and it went back on immediately. He tried a couple of times, then exchanged the controls with one of the other r-pod fridges. This one worked perfectly and we did take our r-pod home that day.

Crossing fingers that everything works like a charm from now on for you!

A good walk through is important, my dealer didn't care as much and hurried it left me with more questions that I would have liked.  I wasn't totally disappointed though as I really like to spend my time learning the systems inside and out.  The dealer did a good enough job, is all I can really say.  Head up you'll have it soon!Big smile

That is exactly what my dealer tried to do which was take the board from another r-pod and replace the one in mine. When they got into it, they found it was going to be a little more complex than just switching them. Since it was already late in the day and it was clear I wasn't going to take it home, the decision was made to just order the part. So glad to hear yours is working perfectly!

Thanks for the reply!

Happy camping!

Happy to hear your dealer's service techs knew what they were doing.  The lead tech and service manager failed spectacularly at mine, which I detailed in another thread here not long ago.

Since the walk-through and manuals are usually not comprehensive enough, or you forget half of what they said, that's why we are here.  Wink

Thanks Doug and Marx for the comments and encouragement. This forum is one reason I think I love the whole r-pod experience. Lots of great people and good information. Are there ever any r-pod rally's? I know that something is coming up soon in Indiana, (I believe). Would love to meet some of the other "podders".

Same thing happen to our 177 during the walk though. FR sent a replacement memory board. You guessed it same result. Same darn beeping. The tech call FR and they sent out a new refreg.. Now issues now. Not sure why this is happening.

Wow, thanks John, that is really good to know. I will pass that along to the service folks to make sure they leave plenty of time to check it before I try to take delivery again.
