Hi Julie. We're not very good at carpentry either, but the table looks amazing. We varnished it and had many compliments. You don't even see the chocks.
Good luck!

Purchased my Forest River Rpod 178 last June and was not a fan of the hospital green. Had it wrapped before this season.

Wow!  I've also never been a fan of the green. Can you share more details about this?  How did you find someone to do it/ Would you mind sharing the cost?  I love it!

A local advertising company designed it for me. It was about $2200 CAD.

I edited the post to include before/after.

Just getting a handle on how to post.

I plan to do this mod.

What size or pound lift cylinders did you use and what size was the bins.  I assume you left the cushions on when lifting.

I see a few people doing RV tire swaps.   When I had a 8" eye bolt wreck my Off Road tire on a street, I wound up at the major tire shop in Indianapolis that does everything including Tractor Trailer rigs and big equipment and who have seen everything.   Boy did I get a lecture on RV Trailer tires because off road tire came on my used RPod.

Bottom line if you google: What is the difference between ST and LT tires?

ST tires have some of the highest load ratings. This is one of the reasons they are designated for use on trailers. Truck and automobile tires do not have to withstand the weight and stress that is put on trailer tires. Venture Tip: Never substitute light truck (LT) or passenger (P) tires for trailer tires.

Search for: What is the difference between LT and ST trailer tires?

Are LT tires better for trailers?

Is it OK to use truck tires on a trailer?

Don't. Trailer tires and passenger car tires have different structures to respond to different stresses. Using a trailer tire on your car, or a car tire on your trailer, could lead to disastrous consequences. Passenger vehicles interact with the road through their tires.

ALSO... you must use the same tires on each wheel.  And good idea to on the spare as well in case you have to drive a long way like we did on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere on a cross country trip.

Hi Marv. When I started researching replacement tires for our 179 a year ago, I wanted to stay with the same tire profile that was stock. We were a month from leaving in a ~4K mile trip and I didn't want to change what worked well for us in the past. After consulting with two independent tires shops that performed tires services for the majority of the RV dealers in Albuquerque, plus speaking directly with Forest River, I decided to go with the recommendation of all three, which was a 10 ply LT tire inflated to 65psi, which would give a higher load capacity than the stock Westlakes. Forest River uses LT tires on their Wolf Pup series as do other manufacturers including Airstream.

There's a lot of info out there so folks need to make their own informed decisions. The point is moot for me as my new trailer is a tandem axle with a common ST tire size. That said, I will stay with ST tires on this rig.
