Our rig is a 2008 4.7l Tundra DC. It did not come with an OEM tow package, but we had the Toyota tow hitch fitted. Even though not strictly necessary, I am upgrading our Tundra with OEM parts to full tow package standard, which includes replacing the auto transmission oil 'cooler' with a thermostatic unit, running 2x hydraulic hoses to the front and fitting a suitable radiator behind the grille where the OEM transmission oil cooling radiator would sit. Once finished, it will look and function exactly like the OEM installation, only allowing the transmission oil to be cooled via the radiator once the oil temp has reached a certain level.
I am also fitting 2x air lift loadlifter 5000 adjustable air springs in the back so that when we are towing, we can keep the truck on an 'even keel'.

i just bought an rpod in long beach california,i drove out there from south texas with my 04 toyota tacoma 4 door double cab 4x4 v-6.i had every type of wind possible from every angle.with no wind on level ground i got 14mph.i could keep it at 60-67 easy.but when the wind was blowing against you i could barely make 55mph and got about 10mpg.i could watch the gas gauge move.lesson learned?i will pick a camp spot downwind of me and make sure the wind is blowing toward home when im done camping.the rpod was a couple inches high in the front,im gonna lower it and see if it makes a change in mileage.

We pull with a 2004 Expedition with a 5.4L engine. 9 mpg on a normal day, 11 on a really good day. No better, slightly worse.

Hi Everyone,
I'm using a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 4-cyl to pull a R-Pod 151. Took a trip from Morgan Hill Ca to Yosemite last fall. Could manage about 50 mph on the level hiway. The truck slowed to about 25 up the Sierra hills. Averaged about 13 mph. Great trip. Doing it again June.

Top down, absolutely!  When my wife and I were dating she had a Geo Tracker with a soft top that came completely off.  Loved crusing around during the summer like that.  Then kids came and the Tracker was sold so we could get a minivan...  Cry
