For the vent fan, I just wired to the existing wires for the light that was above the stove.
I will agree. When I wired something else It was surprisingly hard to find a good 12v in near the water heater switch. Just clip a long wire to a known ground, turn everything off and then probe until you find the thickest 12v wire you can find. |

How did you wire the switch? I looked at the water heater and couldn't figure out which wires i needed to extend to an internal rocker switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Dav mar,
I had to have the vent exposed because I vented to the refrigerator compartment because I have had trouble with dust in the desert with my previous camper. If you vent directly outside it is a much cleaner install and would would not require the extra tubing and the fan would work better. There are some nice campsites at horsetooth resevoir assuming you camp near the marina end. The ones on cr23 are pretty noisy. There is a koa north end of town that i have never been to. |

Welcome.
I don't know if anyone has tried to do what you're thinking of or not. I would be concerned that a folding sink would take up so much space that you couddn't stand in front of it and use it anyway. There are lots of folks who have removed the bathroom sink entirely. They just use the kitch sink instead. Here's a video of someone who has removed theirs so you can see what's back there. You have some space in the wall between the sink and the bed area, but the outside wall is only an inch thick so not really useable. |

Hello Everyone...I am new to this group as I just purchased a 2018 177 Rpod. I wanted to ask if anyone can advise me on this...I have a wet bath and would like to remove the sink but install a fold up or flip up sink that goes into the wall. I have seen them in other rv's and thought it was a good idea, but do not know where I can locate one and is it even feasible. Thanks..

Kevin, First want to say I like your mod but I forgive me that I do have what you might consider a criticism though I hope you don't take it as a negative. My only question about your mod of adding the vent is why does it look to me you have the unsightly vent ducks exposed? Couldn't you some how vent directly from the vent cowing into the refrigerator area with out having exposed ducting? If it's impossible to do that then I understand why it was necessary to have the expose ducts. All in all very neat idea you have on this mod and please forgive any critical observation on my part. On a different note I see your from Ft. Collins, the wife and I hope to make up to your town in the coming year. Her Grandparents lived there and we'd like to see their house and visit their graves so if you can make any recommendation for campgrounds near by please do send me a PM for I'm all ears!

I put the vent in the refrigerator. I do have the outdoor shower, but that doesn’t interfere in the least.

I love the hood concept. I ask last year and the best was RR vent on hi and shower cap on the dector. I have an importquestions. Do you have an outside shower? How did you locate a clear sport to cut the opening for the exhaust.

Stove range Vent. This is a mod I have not seen anybody else do yet, but is surprisingly easy and quick to do. I quickly tired of opening the window and running the fantastic fan while cooking breakfast. Nothing worse than freezing my butt off while cooking the pancakes!!! I moved the stove back against the wall and eliminated the dead space behind it, added a range vent that vents into the refrigerator vent space and added some prep space in front of the stove. It took all of 6 hours from start to finish including making the custom cutting the board. I will be adding a piece of stainless steel backsplash to protect the wall. I will probably just glue it to the luan, though in theory I should put in some spacers so it is not touching the wall. Process: Drill a hole in the wall with 4.25" hole saw cut in 1/2 piece of plywood, mark hole, drill hole slip in 4" louvered dryer vent, cut off extra part that goes through hole staple plywood to camper from inside screw vent to plywood. insulate the refrigerator compartment when you realize it is only seperated from the inside of camper by 3/16" luan!! Buy Heng industries 20" stainless steel rear vented rv 12V hood. Modify to vent downwards using HVAC boot, small piece of metal, and some tape. Use 4" elbow to direct out of the vent. Take off the puck light and wire to the fan. Moving the stove is even easier: Just remove cover, undo 4 holes, remove stove (undoing the gas flare joint makes this easier, though not strickly necessary) cut new hole by measuring old by drilling four corners and using a jigsaw, bend the flexible copper pipe a little bit, plunk stove in new hole screw in stove, test gas if you disconnected with some soapy water. cover old hole. All Done!! notes: If you like to use plug in appliances, move vent a few inches further over from where I placed so you can get at the outlet. Also I am venting into the refrigerator space, which is NOT going to pass code, but I could not come up with a use case that would cause problems, especially since the vent is louvered. You could easily vent right through the wall and it would work better with more airflow. I have had problems with dust getting into my old camper through the vents on rough Utah roads despite the louver, so I decided on the refrigerator compartment. https://postimg.cc/f3fJXvfr https://postimg.cc/gallery/iv7gvnjm/ |
