That is one of my favorite areas in Oregon. There are really two Oregons - the western 1/3 between the Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Ocean and the eastern 2/3 from the Cascades east. When at Lake Billy Chinook (east side) we like the campground on the rim - Cove Palisades State Park. It's a cooler than down at lake level. Lots of interesting things to do in the area:
  • Smith Rock State Park
  • Tumalo Falls
  • Cascade Lakes Highway
We would like to see the eclipse next year from that area.

Very nice! Done the coast of Oregon, which I thought was magical. We all live in our own special places. Yours is just a little extra special!

So.......our 2nd trip was out to Central Oregon (yes Bend, Ore. is the place you've all heard of but we were just North of there at Lake Billy Chinook).......Parked at the lake............hiked up the trail a bit......you can see the F150/Rpod way down below......The view of "the island" at Lake Billy Chinook with Mt. Hood in the background. I am a lucky man to live out here with a lovely wife who loves to explore this great NW with me!!!
