Rear view camera install

   I had a camera on my 179. I made a bracket that attached to the spare tire carrier and sat above the tire. It worked okay, but higher would have been better.

	I believe they are all plastic. Mine is old, built January 2011 and is all plastic. Quite sturdy and would be able to hold a camera. Beside you could add a support bracket on the underside of the spoiler, just make sure to use eterna bond or dicor to close up the holes when completed. If you go this route, DO NOT caulk the trailing (lower) side of the spoiler. It is purposely left uncaulked so that if moisture does enter, there is an escape route for it to exit. 	Yep, since the cam needs to be installed as high as possible, the spare tire mount won't work, so was just thinking it's going to have to be the spoiler. Do you, or anyone, know how/if I can attach a bracket to it? Is it just fiberglass? Some sort of composite? I don't know if it's hollow and would take an expansion anchor, or if I could just drill and screw into it.

	I have seen pics of individuals mounting the camera just above the spoiler; getting the power from the line running to light the L.E.D.'s on it. It will be high, yet low enough to be protected from branches, ect. due to the fact that your A/C unit (if you have one) will be significantly taller.

	Now that I've looked into it more, I'm not drilling into that back wall. Appears it's one solid piece of fiberglass, there are no aluminum frame Members behind. I'm just asking for trouble drilling into that side of the camper. Think I'm going to fashion something that attaches to the spare tire mount and attach the camera there.

	Hi all, I have an RPOD 179 I'll be installing this rear facing camera (came with my Tacoma, the Wireless Camera System). It's rather large and heavy, and comes with a bracket intended to have 6 small holes drilled for installation directly to the back of the camper. Needless to say, not thrilled about drilling into the Pod, but this will be the safest, most secure way to install it. So, anyone know if there are any wires or plumbing to be aware of in the back wall? I'll be installing it as high as I can, just before the roof starts curving away. So, about 3 to 4 feet from the bottom, centered on the back wall. I'm assuming there are some aluminum frame Members I might be able to ID with a stud finder, and hopefully can put a couple of screws into those. Otherwise I'll be installing with expanding anchors where it seems hollow. Any concerns? Anyone ever drilled/installed something on the back wall from the outside? Thanks!
