Congratulations on your 205, I saw one at our Traverse City, Michigan, R-Pod Rally last month, that is quite the unit!  I do not have lithium batteries in our 177 but know that as batteries charge off your generator or through a battery charger the normal charge will show 14.5 - 14.6 volts.  A fully charged battery will show 12.72 volts and anything above that is a bonus.  Even my pair of batteries have shown 13.6 volts after being charged and yet a day later will drop down to 12.8 - 12.9 volts after a couple days even though they are not hooked up to anything.

Hi Steven, Thanks for the reply! At the time we tried to run the AC, we were also charging our LifePo ah100 battery. It was charged 13.4. At any rate, we also have our fridge which only runs on battery. Not sure if it was running at the time or not.

I also have another question for you: when charging with the generator, at one point it said we were at 14.5 and totally charged. When we unhooked the generator, it said we were back down to 13.6. Not sure what that was about. Any ideas?

Thanks, Sue

A Generac 2500 should run the AC, provided you also are not trying to run other power intensive things. Were your batteries charged so that the converter would not be drawing a lot of amperes trying to charge it? Were you using an inverter to run other appliances? More detail as to exactly what was happening would help.

When we had our RP-179, I installed a MicroAir EZStart, which really helped. The compressor has a large surge current when it starts. The EZStart changes that so that the initial surge is not there. The compressor ramps up speed and you can barely hear it start up. Something like that may help in your situation also.

You still will not be able to run multiple heavy-draw items at the same time with that generator, but it will allow your AC to start and run without the generator shutting down. Ultimately, you need a bigger generator if you want to run more than your AC.

My husband and I have a Generac 200 generator and tried to use it with our new rpod 203 to run the air conditioner. As soon as we turned the air on the generator conked out. Any suggestions on how we can run the air?
