Hello everyone, My name is Brian, my wife and I haven't been campers since our kids were small, some 30 years ago, She is retired and I am working just part time so with a little more time on our hands this seems like a good time to start camping and traveling again. We just bought a 2017 176T R-Pod camper, haven't picked it yet, but looking forward to owning this small camper. I've always had good luck with aftermarket parts, from cars to travel trailers. Dan, just my two-cents worth (if you haven't already made a decision). No, I don't have experience with the aftermarket motor for the awning, but for $124 I would take the chance if, and only if, it's not a big pain for you to replace that motor yourself and you don't mind doing it again if you have to, or if it's not very expensive to pay someone else to do it. It's worth the chance for the huge price difference ($700 is ridiculous for an awning motor). There are some things I would only trust to OEM, but since the awning is not an essential, try the aftermarket. Again, you don't want to go that route if the replacement costs for labor are high. We just purchased a 2022 rpod 202 and are excited about beginning our adventures. We deliberately chose the version with seating, rather than dinette, but are hoping we can find more comfortable seating than the standard jackknife sofa that also converts to sleeper for grandkids.
