We have a trailer worth maybe $10k ensured for Damage, with a $500 deductible, at a cost of $161/yr. Nothing else on it, so I’m guessing Idaho defers to the TV policy. This has me curious about what scenario(s) are hedged by my $161, and why I haven’t ever thought about it before.

If it is a two or three way absorption refrigerator, you need to get the trailer leveled in both side-to-side and front-to-back directions. It should be within 3 degrees. More than that and it can affect operation of the refrigerator. If it is a compressor refrigerator, the tolerance is about the same as what you would like. Don't run the refrigerator on battery if it is a propane model. Use propane so you can save the battery life for other things like lighting.

General safety & theft: Just don't leave valuables lying around if you are not going to be there. Don't make it easy for potential thieves to take your stuff. Put a hitch lock on the trailer for when you are not going to be there. A hitch lock will make you feel more secure. I used this one on the RPod with the 2" hitch. When I moved up to a different trailer, I purchased the 2-5/8" model. You can pay a LOT more, but this has been adequate for me so far.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004KJ6KFG?

I hope you have a fun trip.

Stephen

Edited by StephenH - 05 Oct 2024 at 12:06pm

First timer. Have a gravel with water hookup spot. Lots of propane for my Predator 5000W. Anybody camped out there for race weekend and care to offer any tips? We're in a "quiet" spot from 0000-0600 so gen will be off. I'm more concerned about the "operations" aspect; getting in and setting up, general safety & theft, logistics, etc. But all advice is appreciated.

VR/Mikey

So I agree the older r-rpods were built better. Our Gulfstream Vista Cruiser when I replaced the kitchen sink with a larger double bowl stainless steel sink I was happy to see the countertop made from plywood. Our previous r-pod and Vibe both had countertops which were made using MDF which were damaged by water. We have been happy with our Vista Cruiser best camper out of the three sorry we now need to sell it. Our 2018 Vista Cruiser has awning windows which we have been thankful for I think in 2020 Gulfstream changed the windows to sliding windows I guess to save money. It's nice to open windows when it's raining for ventilation.
