Thanks to this forum I had a good pre-acceptance checklist to use. Got it home and ran through everything again. So far everything checks ok. I'm embarrassed, but you are correct the new pods come with 225-75 R 15 D rated tires so my concern about speed rating was unfounded. Biggest concern right now is the weather...having a T-storm with a lot of pea-sized hail..oh well...stuff happens. I'll go check the Pod when it stops. 😢

I'm from San Angelo initially, but was never stationed at Goodfellow AFB. Was a C-130 Navigator and stationed in Abilene a couple of times. Retired in 2001, spent 9 yrs working in North Carolina...then came back to the Lone Star state. Look forward to getting out with the 179. My only real concern are the tires; more specifically, the speed rating. If I limit myself to 65mph, in a state where 75 is the speed limit on most farm to market roads, I'm going to get run over. Hate to buy a new camper only to turn around and buy two new tires, but may have to. I'd be interested in any thoughts on the subject.

I was stationed at Goodfellow AFB for AIT training in 1984 an went back there for a class in the early 90's. My first sighting of a tornado was while we were on our end of course exercise. It was on the other side of lake O.C. Fisher.

We also have and like the 179. Although the bathroom is small, we thought we would like and get more use out of the larger kitchen with its storage. I have done a number of modifications. The 179 lends itself well to customizing if you like to do things with it. It is currently at the factory for repair following an accident last December when we hit a combination of ice and wind. We will be picking it up from the factory next month, hopefully as good as, or better than new. We will be getting an awning with it since they will be replacing the wall and can put the newer style with the proper reinforcement to hold the awning. We will have a one-of-a-kind 2016 RP-179 after that.

We hope you have many fun trips and make many good memories with your new R-Pod.
I've been lurking on the site for about a week and found it filled with tons of useful information, hints, tips, and advise. Thanks! I have limited experience with RV's. I had a used pop-up camper when stationed in Alaska back in the 80's, and have rented some not-so-well-maintained campers a couple of times over the past few years. Mostly we tent-camped. Decided to pull the trigger and purchase. Wife and I are empty nesters now and wanted something small and easy to tow. We really liked the layout of the 179. The only extras on our 179 is the awning and we opted for an anti-sway hitch. Tow Vehicle is a 2015 2wd Toyota Tundra so anti-sway hitch may be overkill but feel better having one. As strange as it may sound, I'm newer to forums than I am to RV camping. This being the first time I've ever posted on one. Look forward to posting more in the future.
