The newer R-Pods were reinforced to take the stress of the awning. The older ones lack the reinforcement needed. The only way it would be possible is to have the whole side replaced in order to get the additional reinforcement. That is what is about to happen to our 2016 RP-179 when it goes to the factory for repairs from our accident in December. I would not recommend this course of action on an intact R-Pod though.
