Y gave a couple bottles to some of the people at the bait stands down at Cape Hatteras and they really liked it.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1146" rel="nofollow">jato</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 9514<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 26 Mar 2017 at 4:47pm<br /><br />You could give it a try Doug.&nbsp; I was surprised years ago when a friend of ours brought some clear syrup and told me to try it.&nbsp; Had a faint taste and was very sweet.&nbsp; When he told me what it was, I thought he was pulling my leg, but found out that it was for real . .. . . . . . . . . birch syrup!&nbsp; A lot of work at the ratio was 60 gallons sap for 1 gallon of finished product!&nbsp; Still prefer maple syrup, much more of a robust flavor!]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.rpod-owners.com/member_profile.asp?PF=1146" rel="nofollow">jato</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 9514<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 22 Mar 2017 at 8:52pm<br /><br />Leo, the last year I made maple syrup was 2015, collected 700 gallons of sap and ended up with 16.5 gallons of syrup.&nbsp; Hopefully it will last for awhile.&nbsp; Did you get that warm snap about 4 weeks ago?&nbsp; Here we had temps in the 60's and the lows were in the upper 40's, put a hurt on sap collection, as sugar content of the sap was down to only 1%, and with an extended warm spell, the sugar may have started turning to starch.&nbsp; Fortunately it only lasted about 4 days but a lot of people around here got pretty nervous!]]>
