You must not be in the panhandle. I was raised in TX, north TX, we used to say when I was a kid "the only thing between North TX and Canada is a single strand barb wire fence", we had miserable winters there:) In central TX, my youngest children were 13 the first time they saw snow, they had no idea what it was, funny. The snow is nearly completely melted and gone here (FINALLY).. Another warm day with some wind and it will be gone. It's a great feeling for sure. Completed the final mortgage payment this afternoon on my lunch break. One years worth of payments all at once. I never thought about the end of the mortgage because it always seemed "out there" as far as time frames go. But 20 years now, and it's gone. I should say for the record it was my first and only house. It's likely I will never sell it. 

And it hasn't snowed again since last night and  snow removal is over for now. Quite a few of my neighbors did NOT do a second cleaning last night, and they're paying the price right now! The snow has hardened and is crusty. The side streets are still hard pack snow and slush, but the main roads are clear to the asphalt. They only plowed 3/4 of the street, it's almost 4 feet of snow into the street  and the same height. Hope it warms up again and melts it. Thinking about camping adventures this year coming!!!

Been there, done that! It was bad enough when we lived in various places up north. It is just as bad here in NC when the plows do that as it is usually ice and wet, heavy snow mixed that then freezes into a nearly immovable block that I have to break up and move in small chunks. I have worn out two snow shovels here. Unfortunately, the only ones we can find now are plastic, not metal. They would be useless in breaking up ice.

And on an very upbeat note, I am paying off my mortgage today!! 20 years gone by and DONE!!


Congratulations. We have a 30 year that I hope we can transform into a 20 year mortgage since we put extra on the principle every month. I need to check my amortization table to see if we are on track. Unfortunately, the property taxes went up so some of what I was paying extra now goes to escrow instead of principle. Thumbs Down

 I just finished round 1 of snow blowing here - 2 hours of effort moving about 14 inches, so far, and the plow truck is going to bury the front again soon, and it looks like snow into tomorrow??? 
 I'll have to hit it again around 7-8p tonight and hope for the best. The shop where I work was shutdown, so we knew yesterday we wouldn't have to work today. 
 Connecticut snow usually sucks because we get heavy snow, not fluffy stuff, and today was no exception...
