Furnace Creek is the only CG with hookups. You can also check out Shoshone, the gateway town to DV from the south. They have a nice little campground. We always camp at Texas Springs, upper section, but we have solar panels. If you would like full hookups and other creature amenities your best choices would be in Pahrump Nevada to use as a base camp then explore Death Valley from there.

Best time of the year for us has been in the spring when the "cactus is in bloom" or in the fall. You really don't want to be out on the salt flats at Bad Water in the summertime when it's 120+ and sun's ray's are bouncing off the white crystal salt cooking your face while blinding those without heavy eye protection.

If you go take lots of water as even in cool temps you'll lose body moisture through your skin pores as it's that dry out there.

There are a lot of fun things to do and places to see.

Just a heads up, the Valley gets a little crowded when the 49'rs hold their annual Encampment there

Furnace Creek Campground now has 18 full hook up sites. If you go to Death Valley, Furnace Creek campground is good. No hookups, but good "facilities". Shouldn't need AC until March or April. I have even been chilly in May. You can't get to Scotty's Castle - road is gone. Stove Pipe is OK but no shade and the wind blows pretty good. No where in either park should you go away and leave an awning up. I have not stayed in Joshua Tree. Has anyone been to these two national parks? If so, what month did you go? and, where did you camp?

We are thinking of going but I think there are limited hook-ups in these parks. I lam leaning toward at least electricity in case I want to run the A/C.
