The pump is controlled by a pressure switch right at the pump. It senses pressure in the cold water pipe at the pump output and turns on the pump when it drops. The same switch turns off the pump when it reaches a set higher pressure. Use of water anywhere will turn the pump on if the pump is supplied with 12 VDC. There are no location dependent pump signalling devices. If you turn on the kitchen faucet the pump should come on eventually. If the faucet is severely clogged it may take some time to drain the system below the lower trip point. However, causing the pump to cycle by flushing the toilet, thus building up pressure, will have only a minor effect on flow. My bet is on a clogged screen in the faucet.
With a full fresh water tank and water pump switched on, we now only get a trickle out of the kitchen sink faucet. Flushing the toilet triggers the pump immediately and can thereby get more water flowing at the faucet too. I think the problem is simply that opening the faucet doesn't trigger the pump. Any ideas for a fix?
