But it (an R-Dome) is not so convenient when one is traveling and stays are overnights and not extended. We did that last year, and plan on doing it again. Our first long trip was in the winter. Our next one will be also. Outside cooking is not necessarily going to take place, so we appreciate the inside kitchen.
Ultimately, each one will decide what works best for his or her circumstances. In our case, it is the 179.

I'd forget both. My wife and I, both in our 60's, and 1st timers, bought a 183G. It has the larger bathroom and the outside kitchen which we both believe is a huge plus. The only drawback is having to convert the table to the bed. I'd also suggest getting the R-Dome as it effectively doubles the usable space you have when the weather is good.

I'd like to see to where you relocated the water pump also. Enlarging the underneath storage would be nice. I mounted a 5x5 post inside my compartment for a ladder. This has proved to be very useful. However, it might not allow me to do any relocating of the pump. You can see this in my mods. I kind of went nuts with this mod, I took pictures and plan to post the how to after the drawers are built.(if it all works out) The whole thing is built with screws so it can all be put back to stock,and the top plywood comes off just like the original,so I can pull off the mattress and take off some screws and access it all.
I actually moved the pump 12" remounted with noise isolater pad ,and made the storage compartment up front deeper to hold my large easyup awning. And made the space just inside the outside access panel 6" taller inside so I can fit bins stacked up in there. The drawers will be able to pull out 36" (with the slide out out) and you can stand to one side or the other for access. It looks good. However, how will you get to the hot water heater and water pump? Even with the drawers out, it looks like it will be a problem getting to them through the top. The water heater can be accessed through the panel under the bed, but the water pump may be more problematic.

I see you still have the original mattress. I replaced ours after the third trip with the R-Pod.

I agree on the lack of storage in the 180 so much, that yesterday I ordered 40"" full extension drawer guides and built  his and hers drawers, 5 " deep 18" wide and 48" long. We picked the 180 for two reasons. First the full bath is a plus over the small bath in 179 for us. We use the campground showers if they are available. The second reason was sitting at the dinette you feel a bit more room and can look out both sides. The down side is less storage room. We haven't had a problem yet with storage. Whatever you pick you will love it. First, Congratulations on your purchase - look forward to years of enjoyment !
- I checked my iPhone archive, no pictures, sorry
- As we live in the frozen North (Canada), our Pod is now in winter storage
- I searched Costco.ca for 'serving tray' & found more expensive examples.
It is a solid black rectangular tray with 4 equal height sides and a knife & fork pattern (from memory).
Was on sale for $10 or less at that time.
BTW I also bought 4 thin flexible cutting mats for different foodstuffs in Costco that fit the tray nicely

Regarding tables for the 179, we picked up this table from our local Walmart. It's 10" longer than the Amazon one (20" x 40") but still folds up very compactly.

We chose the ancher 20 ×30 inch table which adjusts from 21-28 inches high,I just went to amazon and they don't show that same brand with that size table right now however they do have it in a lifetime brand same size and the same price I paid which is 33.44. It looks like the same one we bought.It's the closest thing I could find to the original table size which I think was 36×21 and about 29 inches high.by the way the model no.on that lifetime model on Amazon was 28241, hope that helps. We really like it, its so light and you can lay it on the bad or put it between the bed and the cushion on its side.

We just picked up our 179  10/24/16...we were like you the 180 bathroom but the dinette we use as a couch, the table goes on the bed....the countertop in the kitchen and the storage made up our minds...hope this helps

We keep our table at home and replaced it with one from amazon,it's almost the same size and adjusts to three different heights folds flat and u can put it almost anyware,sometimes we take it outside to use because it's so light.We also took our seat cushions and had the foam replaced in them,wow what a difference no more sinking down very firm.

The CPAP machine is why my first modifications were a 12V outlet and a shelf above the bed to hold the CPAP machine. Thank you for the additional information. My wife and I already use separate beds in our 179. She suffers from frequent insomnia and I have to use a CPAP, so the near side of the bed would be the best place for both if we both slept there. So, she sleeps on the dinette (she's shorter than I am).

Before we put in the futon, she was using an air mattress that we had to inflate every night and deflate every morning. The only thing that keeps our 179 from being perfect is the same thing that would apply to the 180. That is, the lack of a walk-around bed. Given the space constraints, it probably could not be done in a trailer the width of the R-Pod. I would take a smaller dinette  and move the wardrobe to small ones on either side of the bed if there were enough room to do so in the 179. Given that there would only be 7-1/2" of space on either side if the mattress were rotated 90 degrees, it would not give sufficient space to maneuver along the sides.

RV Queen is 75" long X 60" wide.  Rotating it gives 15" of space. 15" / 2 = 7-1/2". So, we will continue to have me climb over my wife until we can't do so any more. Then (probably me) one of us will use the dinette area while the other uses the bed.

We use our bathroom in our 179 at night also and have showered in there, not just washed our feet and ankles.

In the end, each of us will choose the one he/she feels is the right one for him/her. In this case, the rule, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" applies.

Hi there! Ditto on all of the things said about the 179. We are really happy with ours. We had been full-timing in a Teardrop and stumbled upon Rpods which met our needs for more space without going to large. So we upgraded in June to a 179 and love it. Even the tiny wet bath!
