Welcome.  I agree about mounting higher brake lights on campers (should be true for 18 wheelers, too).  More than enough proof that 3rd brake lights on cars have reduced accidents over the last 20+ years.

Pod hopper... you're going thru the pre-Pod expenses exactly the way we did. Several hundred in pod stuff purchased before we actually spent time in the Pod! I followed the usual advice, did many Pod mods that we all do.

My main concern was where to put the more realistic sized Rhino Flex black water hose & parts that we all end up needing. I didn't want it in the underside storage mixed with fresh water hoses, chock blocks & corner pads, lawn chairs, etc. and didn't even want this black water evacuation hosing riding near the cheap starter blue hose that we only use for the Gray (soapy) water drain. (The blue hose rides in the original R-pod hitch housing tube, along with our trailer hitch ball lock when we go for a day trip.) But the Rhino Flex BLACK hose won't ever fit in there.

I came up with this: I re-purposed our "spare wheel mount" bike rack from our 2nd-gen Honda CRV (these bike racks are also often on Jeeps with the rear spare wheel). They are also "Craigslistable". Since the rear spare tire mounted on WanderPod should not carry much weight, I thought that it could carry the black water hose contraptions instead, and not contaminate the precious lower underbed storage cavity.

On the re-purposed bike rack, I swung out the bike attach arms and cut a wood platform, and attached it to the bike-holding arms, and painted the board black. Then, I bought a durable black tool box called "KOBALT" from Wal mart ($30) and thru-bolted it to the new carrier board permanently with nuts, bolts loops through to two metal plates inside, so it rides lightly and permanently on the bike rack arms.

In goes the the hose, the water treatment packages, the sewer cap removal tool, latex gloves. The box latches securely is pretty much water tight and blends in cohesively with the black spare tire & cover. (I even put a small padlock on it and labelled it SEWER HOSE inconspicuously, in case anybody thinks there's a cache of tools in there).

To complete the mod, I thought, "what a great place for the safety of a needed third brake light!." From Ebay came a very cheap but durable LED light bar, ($12) about the length and thickness as a ruler. It is mounted to the outside of the tool box with two short tap screws, and I just ran paired wiring to tap into the brake lights. The wiring enters into the back of the tool box at the top edge. Now I have a third centered brake light, positioned above, and forward of the Pod brake lights.

It worked out really well. The bike rack/hose carrier lifts off in one unit should we really need the spare tire, and brake light wires have a disconnect plug right there. The hose & plastic tool box weighs hardly anything, so no significant add'l load on the spare tire & bracket. 

 And, the third LED brake light that rides on this tool box protects us in a sudden highway braking situation. I really do think that the R-Pod should have a third brake light, even though the regular LED lights are plenty bright. With your running lights they brighten with your brakes, but this third brake light, ONLY illuminates from 'dark' when the brakes are applied, a more direct alert to followers. Out of pocket was less than $70, and it almost looks like an integrated factory option.

Anyway, the upshot is, this mod may not appeal to your concerns, but if you have a little experimental "tinkering" in you (and a weekend day available for such), get creative with any mod that makes the camping happier & safer in your new 180 Pod! Life is short, get outside, right?

I tried using a section of 2x6 lumber under the Andersen in my driveway. It did not work as the Andersen leveler would slip out. There was not enough friction between it and the 2x6 to hold it in place. All great ideas. I looked at the Anderson Levelers but couldn't decided if they would work as advertised. Good to hear from someone that has actually used them. We are also new campers as of May, 2016.  I bought an impact drill for easy raising/lowering the stabilizers.  I have also added numerous command hooks for towels, accessories, etc. in the kitchen. We have added foam mattress toppers to the beds as well. In my driveway, the Andersen leveler is not high enough. The BAL works better there. It may be worth noting that the Anderson leveler does not require two people to get the trailer level.  There are several sight levels that can be affixed to the front of the trailer and are visible to the driver through the rear view mirror.  FWIW, I tried both the BAL and the Anderson.  For me, the Anderson wins, hands down.  Found the BAL to be a pain to store AND use .. Cumbersome.  Others' MMV.

Thanks to all that have replied; that's why I love this forum. Everyone is so willing to help and share ideas. That level is the one that we have been considering. It looks like it just makes sense and makes things simple, and those are the leveling blocks that we purchased. I have read a few other posts about having dog bone style electrical adapters available. They will save you in a pinch. The sway bar will be a must when we hit the road; the first couple of seasons will be parked in seasonal facilities. Any suggestions on surge protectors? Currently looking at a Progressive Industries model.

I got all of the things on your list, plus:

   - 30 to 20 amp outlet converter (couple of bucks at Walmart)
   - 20 amp extension cord (not cheap)

I use those two things the night before a trip - I plug the camper into the house circuit to get the fridge in the camper cooled down.

  - a socket, adapter, and knuckle to allow me to drive the stab jacks up and down easily with an electric drill.

  - rolling zippered sheet baskets. Got them at walmart. They fit nicely under the bed and we use them to store the sheets when we aren't going to be using them for awhile. Keeps them fresh.
  - Farberware coffee maker that uses K-Cups. $29 at Walmart, much cheaper than a brand name Keurig. You might not need that - depends on your caffeine addiction level.
  - Command(tm) sticky hooks and bins for handing stuff on the walls (hooks hold towels, bins hold TV remotes, cell phones, etc)
  - Weight distribution and sway bar - this will depend on what you're pulling it with. Our Hyundai Veracruz behaved poorly without those.
  - Collapsible trash bin, also Walmart. Great space saver.

This is the level we bought. It goes right on the coupler in front of the jack. You turn the top and it tells you how many inches of blocks to add to which side, then you level the bubble front to back.

Thanks to all for the replies. I have been following this forum since we first started considering our purchase and everyone seems incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable and willing to help.

I am definitly going to hit our dealer up for a starter package. It just makes sense that it would come ready to go.

Welcome to the forum. As to your dump hose, many (including me) use the Rhino 15 foot flex hose.  You will need an alternative method for storing it though since the stinky slinky carrier that comes with the pod is too short. Look at the mods section and you will get some ideas on what many people have done. Hopper, look into a tt leveler. There are 2 kinds with pros and cons for both. I have the BAL leveler, it is a one person leveler and I can have our pod level front to back side to side in under 5 min. It will raise the pod about 7" or so. Con: it will only do 14" tires, at that I spread the "arms" about 1/8th inch, because I found that after traveling the tires expanded just a little with the heat build up and was a little hard to slide the "arms" under the tires. Since then no problem at all. The other leveler is the Anderson system, you need 2 people to level the tt with this one though and I think will only raise the tt about 3-4 inches. Welcome. My 180 came with sewer hose & water hose, toilet paper, black water treatment etc. It had everything needed to go camping. I have added a few mods and you will you figure out after a couple of trips what you need to have it set up just like you want it. I added a cover over cook top to give more counter space and 2 spice racks on wall by sink.  I have just found out a battery disconnect needs to be added in case it needs to be parked a few weeks not to deplete battery. Welcome to the group! Congrats on your 180!! I would add to your list to get a vert detailed walk thru on delivery have them demonstrate every item frig, stove, etc and video it. There will be a ton of info and if you are like us, you forget half of it. It will help a lot to have the video to refresh your memory.
