You get to stay out longer.  My 200watt is so overkill that if I keep turning it, I can generate more power than the trailer will ever use on DC.  Stereo, TV and LED lights are so minimal.  Fantastic Fan takes more but still not that much. I have not tried the fridge yet because I hear such bad things about DC and fridge.  I still have generators for the AC but those hardly get used in the Rockies.   

However I charge all kinds of batteries and gadgets for the kids toys, Airsoft guns and RC Cars.  If you take the time, put in 12V plugs in your trailer.  I have typical Cigarette lighter style and USB plugs so things can charge ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BXTX11Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=10 ) .  We have a 12V hair dryer and are looking for a coffee pot.  I have not tried a rectifier yet because I don't want the power loss just to make DC again to charge the laptop.

I love our R-Dome.  The wind isn't a factor.  It creates a bug bufferzone between the trailer and the world so not as many get into the trailer at night.  Thats worth it right there.  My wife an I can slap it up in about 5 minutes, but on the 2017's the track is a better fit than apparantly it was in the past.  I do recommend new steaks, just like any tent, they could be stronger.  We don't get it out unless we are there a couple of days or the bugs are bad.  We also bought a 200 watt solar panel which is overkill but works great.

We use Renogy 100w portable solar panels that is referred to as a suitcase style based on its carry case. Reasonably priced. My husband changed the plug to fit the receptacle on the. POD. Taking delivery of our RP-176 at the dealer in Bozeman tomorrow. 

Yesterday I found out that unbeknownst to either of us, our neighbor who also has a wee one bought the same exact model LOL and will be taking delivery soon. I'm going to have to find a different place to park mine Embarrassed

We're looking into whether we want a r-dome, or simply an awning mod, or both. I was going to post a photo of a nifty mod I saw online the other day in case anyone has leads on the design. 

Also looking for a low tech simple solar system that is reasonably plug&splay ready vs building out a more elaborate charging system.

Look forward to reading more here.
