Our first attempt was a bit tedious, but now we know what to do. I feel confident it will be put up a lot quicker. It is well worth the labor!   I love the different ways it can be set up.

Furpod, your video is priceless and without it, we would have given up on ever trying the rdome out so thank you very, very much.

Just to give you the final story:

We initially threaded the top on backwards - back to video view #2!!

We then successfully assembled the rdome with some struggles due to an unplanned burst of wind that is typical of Colorado so we did not continue with staking all around.  We did have some difficulty getting the grey suction cups to stick; avoiding decals.

Upon threading the top of the rdome to the channel on the roof, we noticed the threading rod hung  down about 6" on the opposite side but proceeded regardless.

After taking everything down, we measured and checked with the instruction flyer only to find out we were given the wrong rdome!  They are closed this weekend, Labor Day, so we will call tomorrow, 9/6 and request the right size be sent to us and see what happens!

I thought this valuable information to share in case anyone out there may have had the same misfortune.  I do look forward to using the 'extra' room but will not be able to until next year! 

We are off to see the Aspen changing and camp off the grid at Weston Pass outside of Leadville, CO.

At the ERU in Traverse City I set up our r-dome in 15 minutes solo.  Thanks for the video, will lower my set up time.

Some people pull the "flaps" over the front edges of the pod, and secure there, some, like us let the dome fall straight down the pod and secure it there. We wouldn't bother at all if it were not for the little clip things on the flap ticking on the side of the pod in any breeze.

As a side note.. ours came with the little clip things referenced in the instructions.. our dealer didn't install them, and advised against them since its 8 new holes in your pod.. Using suction cups, use caution, don't put them on any stickers or graphics..

30 minutes.. LOL.. I don't get dealers.. Yes, the dome isn't for everybody, and doesn't work in every campsite.. but why these dealers just invent issues..

Here you go, complete dome set up, solo, 9 minutes, no rush or hurry.

My wife and I really like our R-dome and it takes me about 15 minutes to set up by myself. We've had it in some fairly windy conditions and it's held fine. There are a whole lot of tie-downs around the bottom flap.
One thing you'll want to do right away is get up there and file the edges of the ends on the rail. They are left as-cut and are very sharp. Love our RDome!

We setup ours the first time in about 20 min as it was about reading the instructions and then applying what they meant...

Now that I've done it I think that one person could do 90% of the setup alone. I'm going to try a different order this weekend as I think I have some ideas which will make it easier. Stability wise I think that it's no different than a tent or canvas shelter. It will stay in place if you peg it down correctly. The suction cups worked really well the first time we used them.

Don't sell the Rdome short, I love mine and it was a major consideration for getting a trailer this small. It doubles your living space. I set mine up alone the first time in about 30 minutes with no instructions, it's very easy after fumbling a bit the first time. I have only set mine up a handful of times as I have only had my 179 a couple of months. Thank You! One last question;  Does your R-Dome assembly include 'Snap Fast Fasteners' ?  Our instructions are not very  clear and although the contents show these to be included, we received plastic looking suction cup hooks....but nothing about how they are used and no 'snap fast fasteners' .

We really like our r-dome , it takes my wife and I about 10 mins to set it up. I would like to know if anyone uses their sunroom.  I was told by the dealer that it takes about 30 minutes to set up and once you have done it, you will never do it again because of the time and instability from wind once up.  I opened the box from the dealer and the instructions were different than what was included in the parts bag.  Upon calling the dealer, I was told they would send me the 'old' parts but so far have not received anything and wonder if I should bother calling again if it is not worth setting up.  any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.]]> Thu, 01 Sep 2016 16:01:35 +0000 http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=8706&PID=81562#81562
