Thanks for the help. I found that when I put in a new fuse the furnace worked and so did my outlet.
I am curious as to why there was a little voltage coming through even with the fuse out? Do you know why? it lit up the light on the 12 plug just a little bit, but wouldn't run anything.

That can cause a problem..

also, A decent digital multimeter is not expensive, and very handy around the Pod, and the house. It's difficult to trouble shoot electrical stuff without..

Thank you! I tried it. I found the only wires that go to the furnace are 12G. I tapped into them with white on white and red on red. I got some voltage because the fan that I plugged into the outlet had a glowing light (not glowing like usual, but dimly) on the plug, but there wasn't enough voltage to run it.
Then I tried running the furnace and it wouldn't go on even when I unplugged the new outlet. It is 86 degrees here and I set the furnace at 90 and turned on the gas, but no go.
Any ideas?

Yes there are, yes you can. they look like 10g 12v wires, NOT like romex. I have had an outlet back there for years on ours. I used simple squeeze taps to get my power and ground.

In my 176T, I want to install a 12V outlet under the dining seat next to the AC outlet. The furnace is right there, and I am wondering if there are wires that go to the furnace that are always hot that I could tap into?
