There is a separate buss bar for the 12v. It's not mounted in the power distribution box. Here is a picture from our 177.. see that buss bar in the compartment? That's where your 12v ground goes. Tying 12v into the 120v ground means, when unplugged from shore power, your ground has no where to go..

I mounted it next to the slide switch and took a power feed of the slide switch. Not the best place for an accurate voltage reading but good enough for me.

As I said in another post, the 12V negative buss bar is not located in the distribution panel on my 2016 179, it is attached to the floor behind the panel and behind a messy bundle of wires.

See my post in response to your other post. If you connected to to the AC neutral bus, the one with white wires on it, that is very dangerous.

Installing the 12V socket and using the plugin USB adapter is the best way to charge small items like cell phones, pads, flashlights, etc. Wire it directly to an unused fuse position on the power distribution panel with #12 AWG wire. TVs can handled with small 100W plugin inverter or direct 12V TVs.
