Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it a seal issue?I looked a bit closer inside and there is an inch square silver support under the slide. There was water (not a lot) in it. There is some rubber trim that runs along the front of the bench that doesn't fully cover the end of that square support. Should it? Should there be a cap on that support? Thanks again...

I think I know where its coming from....just this summer we had the same thing in our 2016, R179 in the same place. It always came in when the rain came from a certain direction so I got a ladder out and sprayed the outside while the wife watched inside and we were able to pin point the exact source of the leak.

There is a round tubular rubber gasket that runs top to bottom of the slide attached to the trailer. I think its there to help seal the slide when its in the closed position.

The round tubular gasket was torn at the top going down about 4" or so. And I found the other side was also torn.

I took it into my dealer and his tech made a repair while I was there. In fact I helped him a bit. He used a black rubber sealant (not silicone, although I think silicone would work).

There was a screw under the gasket that appeared to be run in to far that may have caused the issue. He pulled that screw and put a new one in just below the old one. A self tapping screw about 1 1/4 inch or so long. Then he put the rubber sealant into the torn gasket and pressed it all together.

Since then we have had no issues and that after several major rain storms.

I am attaching pics that show the torn gasket. If you need more info let me know.

I have attached two photos (I hope) that show what I am talking about.

If there was a significant wind, it could have pushed some of the rain through the seal. Otherwise, not being able to see it, it is hard to tell. Since it is new, take pictures and then take it to your dealer to see if they can spot where the rain is entering.
The rubber gasket compresses against the wall, sealing it (hopefully) from leaks. If you look at the EDPM material used on the top of the slide-out (no fiberglass there), you might notice it is not tight into the corner of the frame and the face. I think this might be to add some curvature that would also tend to divert any moisture outward instead of letting flow inward.

My 179 (2016, pre-stainless steel sink an flip foot) has the padded naugahide (or some other type of vinyl fabric) facing on the slide-out. I'm not sure I would like the wood better. If I hit my head on it, I'd rather it be the padded version.
We bought a 17ft Burro in 1999. The reason we got the 2720 TM (in 2008) was mostly because I was doing craft fairs around the state and I wanted a larger camper that I could sit in at night and sew or make other stuff and my husband could have his easy chair. We liked it, never had a problem with it. It was fun. But now being retired, I just want to have a camper we can jump in, take off, with very little setup/takedown. We actually drove from Maine to Arizona and back last year and we left the TM home and took the old Burro. So, I guess the r-pod is really an upgrade from the Burro. Lots more options and space.
