I have found if you put three frozen peas on the end of the antenna which is most North facing, both reception and audio is improved! 

Oh, and PCM=Pulse Code Modulation (outputs in 2 channel stereo). Raw is for 'bitstream'. It will pass DD, DTS or PCM stereo. Don't have any idea what that means, but it sounds good. My advice is to try the frozen peas.
