I have one that is about 1/2" dia. vinyl coated steel cable w/ combination lock that I use to secure my generator, when I take it. It would probably do the wheels and propane tanks as it is about 4-5' long.

Everyone kind of summed it up - you can try to deter and hope that would be thieves will move on to easier pickings. However, the experienced ones bring the tools needed to deal with any "inconveniences". Insure and hope for the best. Good luck!

I'd recommend a thick steel cable over a chain. A chain can be cut with bolt cutters; a steel cable would require a hacksaw or circular cutting saw, which would increase the risk of the thief being caught in the act.

As for hitch locks, I'd recommend one with the steel rod that goes over the top of the coupler and then make sure you hook the rod through the chains. Thieves have been known to tow a trailer by just the chains.

Batteries, propane, tires, etc. - yes. I, too, use a hitch lock and that is all. If someone wants it bad enough, they will get it. Then, I'll get a brand new camper for the price of my insurance deductible.
