I steered over the pieces of shredded tire rolling along the freeway and managed to straddle most of them.

Later, I heard something making a chattering noise and I stopped and found a Black pipe, labeled "Sewer Pipe" hanging down from below the battery on my tongue. I was completely mystified, and had to rip it off so I could continue my trip. I'm embarrassed to say I had NEVER noticed this pipe before. What is it ? Was there something inside it ? Do I need to replace it ??
