If you even need a spring / winter / fall camping spot, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in southern Arizona is highly recommended.  We've been going there for the last 6 years, usually over spring break, and it's always a great experience.  The campground is huge, so it never fills.  Sites are $16 per night ($8 for Golden Geezer pass holders) which includes free showers (temperature depends on how much sun has been shining).  Lots of hiking trails around the park, or directly from the campground.  Great place!
