That is the reality of buying an RV in the late winter around rustbelt states, the salt and other road chemicals are impossible to avoid; that stuff get splashed around on everything, even when they are just being moved around the lot to do snow removal. Another reason I am psyched about getting our first trailer, so we can scope out which warmer states we want to consider relocating to after the kids go off to college. I am only 47, and I now I am totally sick of a lifetime of snow and cold. The wife's company has major sites in: NC, KY, TX (and all of those sound great to me!).

Hopefully you don't me jumping into this part of the conversation but, I am with you on the warmer / no snow place to live. Here we are in April and I am looking out the door at snow and 24 degrees. We pick up our R179 this week and its going to be too cold to do any work on it. I sure wish my folks would have moved to a warmer state when I was younger. Now with 2 - kids and 6 - grandkids its harder to do. We hope to spend some time / months, in warmer states next winter with the R-pod. Get an idea of what we want to do. It very well may be simply RVing it south in the winter. I have been to Az numerous times and truly love it. You can simply adjust your temperature in a few hours by just going north or south a bit. And not to forget the scenery is picture book stuff.

I ended up using my 300-ft-lb torque wrench because it's what I had with me with a big enough socket (3/4"). I had to raise it pretty high, with only about 4" of thread remaining at the top.

I live on the Vaughn Hill conservation. The hill is one of the highest peaks between Boston and Mt. Wachusset at a whopping 600'...that might as well be 2000' around here. It is about a 15 minute walk to the top, and on a clear day you have a 360 view and can see Boston. You have to trespass on some guys property to do it, but he has 27 acres and half the time he is not home and the other half he is probably too busy polishing his sports cars.
